Isaiah 9 Prophecy Fulfilled in Matthew 4 and Joel 3

Isaiah 9:1

1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at first He lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward more grievously afflicted her by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. 2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.


For us Christians, this prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew Chapter 4:

 12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, He departed into Galilee.13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the seacoast in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great Light; and to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has sprung up.”17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.


Isaiah 9: continues saying: 3 - "Thou hast multiplied the nation and not increased the joy; they joy before Thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.4 For Thou hast broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise and garments rolled in blood, but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Yes, Mr. President, as you say: “Christmas is supposed to be a time of good will to all men and peace on Earth. Well, we don't have peace on Earth, not in our part anyway, and we certainly don't see good will to all men. We're facing monsters, monsters who murdered children in front of their parents and parents in front of their children, who raped and beheaded women, who burned babies alive, who took babies hostages. This is a battle, not only of Israel against these barbarians, but it’s also a battle of civilization against barbarism. And I know in this that we have your support.”


Yes, Mr. President, this is a battle of "evil vs. good.


We support Israel because Jesus said in John 4:22 that salvation comes from the jews.

"Joel chapter 3 portrays it as the Valley of Josaphat, “The Valley of the decision.”  “For behold, in those days and in that time, when I shall bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted My land. Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the Warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack. Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say, “I am strong!” Come quickly, all you nations from every side, and assemble there.

Bring down your warriors, Lord! “Let the nations be roused let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the nations on every side. Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow—so great is their wickedness!” Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine. The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the heavens will tremble. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.”
